Sicily, Italy

Sicily has been a treat. Attracted to the area by and old and dear friend, this small island in the Mediterranean Sea holds a lot of value. We arrived early morning on a Friday of along weekend, which was great as both Khaison and Luisa had time to show us around. Our days were filled scoping out cliff top towns, sea side villas, old ruins, geological wonders and the inside walls of many Sicilian cafe's.

I don't think I have ever eaten this much in my life, every bit of weight that was shed in the South Pacific sea is now firmly planted back on my gut. The meals here have been marathons but delicious nonetheless. Even I can understand that the food here is quite exceptional and the wine is cheap as hell as well.

I would like to formally tip my hat to Khaison and his wonderful wife Luisa for being outstanding hosts, without them living here on Sicily I don't think we would have made it here and that would have been a real shame. The small town of Piazza Armerina is a proper small Italian town, small roads, big cathedrals and lots of old people talking with their hands.

Greek ruins to active volcanoes, cold seas to hot pizza Sicily is a unique place rich with culture and it is not to missed if you are ever in the area.
