While we stayed there we were put up by my former roommate from Calgary; Sarah Hill and her Mister, Marc Silver. These guys were great to us, a place to crash, internet galore and a few minute walk to the beach make for a pretty cruisey holiday.
While in town I managed to re-connect with more than a few old friends from my first stint in the city six years ago. It was great to meet up for beers or a surf and shoot the shit about old times and introduce them to my lovely girl Andi. For me I just felt comfortable there, which is tough sometimes when you live out of a backpack.
I can't say we did anything super zany or out of the ordinary, we window shopped and hung out at the beach mostly. I managed to get a few last surfs in before we headed off on Phase III of our trip, Hong Kong and Europe. I left my surfboard behind with Sarah with intentions of shipping it back later, traveling with a 6' ½” ironing board in Italy would be a serious pain in the ass so it was culled from the luggage.
Before we boarded our flight, we ate at Bondi Junction which over looks the city. We watched as the sun sunk below the horizon both knowing that this would be the last time we gaze upon a day in Australia for a long time. We were both sad to leave, we like it there very much.
However, Hong Kong awaits in the misty tropics, so we boarded our flight to get a taste of Asia.
